Rabies is a dangerous viral infection endemic to many countries. The rabies vaccine is used to prevent an infection prior to travelling to a high risk area.

COURSE

The vaccination Course Consists of 3 doses:

  • First dose: Five weeks before travel
  • Second dose: Seven dose after the first dose
  • Third dose: Three weeks after the second dose.

Accelerated course:

If you’re travelling at short notice, you may be able to have the third dose two weeks after the second.

Hepatitis B Vaccination

Hepatitis B is a viral infection that affects the liver and can lead to both acute and chronic liver disease. Unlike hepatitis A, which is commonly transmitted through contaminated food or water, the hepatitis B virus is primarily spread through contact with infected bodily fluids, including blood, or through contaminated needles.

Boosters

The requirements for booster doses is dependent on an individual’s likely frequency of ongoing exposure to the rabies virus.

How it is given?

Injection in the upper arm.

Possible Side Effects

The vaccine can cause mild side effects such as rash, a high temperature, nausea or muscle aches.

Risk Areas

African continent, large parts of Asia and South America. Before travelling, always ensure you are aware of the rabies risk at your travel destination.
