Medical Microneedling
Micro-needling is a cosmetic procedure using medical grade needles. It has been proven to help skin’s overall texture and stimulate collagen production.
For improved results it can be used with a combination of mild or moderate deep skin peels.
What is Micro-needling?
It is a procedure using medical grade needles ranging from 0.5–3.00 mm rotating over the skin. These create entry points into the dermis, including small wounds that stimulate your body to produce more collagen and elastin, promoting skin healing and a more youthful appearance.
It is a great treatment for scaring, fine lines (including under the eye area), stretch marks, pigmentation and large open pores.
Benefits of Micro-needling
- Wrinkles: Stimulates the production of natural elastin and collagen that reduces wrinkles and fine lines
- Scarring: Scars from acne and Chicken Pox can be improved and an uneven texture can be smoothed out with micro-needling.
- large open pores: Minimize pore size and induce skin tightening.
- Skin pigmentation issues: Can help to fade dark patches such as pigmentation due to sun damage or ageing.
- Stretch marks: Improve the appearance of old and new stretch marks on abdomen flanks and thighs.
What happens during the treatment?
It takes around 20 to 30 minutes to administer. The local anesthetic is generally applied 30 minutes before the treatment. Once the area is numb, the medical practitioner performs the micro-needling treatment with a special micro-needling pen. After the needling, a skin-soothing product will be applied.
Are there any side effects?
- Temporary/minor skin irritation immediately following the procedure
- Redness
- Dryness
- Flaking of the skin
How long does it last?
The results from your first round of treatment will last between 4 to 6 weeks after the recommended course is complete.
